Websites 360® Is Ready For Google's Mobile Apocalypse

Google has announced that a "significant" change is coming to their search algorithm. According to Google Webmaster Central, this change is starting on April 21, and will expand on Google's use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal.

A Googler even noted that this algorithm change will impact more than 40% of websites on the internet. This means that it will be the most significant mobile algorithm change to date.

According to StatCounter Global Stats, mobile web browsing grew from 17.1% to 28.5% between August 2013 and August 2014. And it is showing no signs of slowing down.

Mobile Internet Usage Soars

Because of this dramatic growth in mobile usage, Google has had to make adjustments to their search algorithm. The update that is upon us will result in websites seeing penalties in search rankings if they are not mobile friendly.

Luckily, Websites 360® websites come ready for this update. When you run your Websites 360® website through Google's Mobile Friendly Test page, you should find that Google sees your site as mobile-friendly.

Keep in mind that the test is not perfect, as is indicated by the feedback discussion group link.

In addition, heavy use of imagery can result in an unwarranted error for an otherwise mobile-friendly site.

You can also check to see if your website is seen as mobile-friendly by searching for it on your mobile device. If you see a "Mobile-friendly" label next to your search result, then you're all set.
